Since yesterday was General Conference, and everyone was home for a change, Gary thought it would be nice if we went for a "Sunday" drive. He had suggested going up by the Gorge to see if the salmon were still "running" but we decided to drive over to Still water Dam and check out camp sites instead.
The mountains are so beautiful this time of year. The air was crisp and the leaves were absolutely amazing.
Gary decided to take the "back" way there (through Neola) well we got lost, ended up making a big loop and found our selves by the Roosevelt golf course. After our little side track, we were able to get to where we needed without much trouble.
We were able to look at a couple of different areas. I think we found a perfect one for next summers Galley Camp Out. (It's our year to be in charge) It is a group site, it has picnic tables, a fire pit, restrooms, garbage pick up, and is close to a river. It is real nice. So if you are a family member and you have any ideas or suggestions, now would be the time to voice your opinion.
We hiked through several campgrounds and drove up to the Dam but everything was closed for the season.
We don't often go in that direction because we have the mountain so close to us but it is nice to go see somewhere new. Gary loves it over there because that is where he worked when he was with the Forrest Service.
If you haven't ever been to the Stillwater Dam, I would suggest that you check it out. Go while things are still open though. There is a place called Rock Creek Ranch. They have a little restaurant, cabins and a little store. Right now they are closed for the season.
Any way, enjoy fall and all of it's beauty because the dreaded winter is on its way!

I want to come to your camp out!
The Lane family will be there and we are SUPER excited about it. It is nice to have a change of scenery once in awhile.
I would suggest maybe going to Atwell Mill up by Sequoia National Park, so the Cali Galley's can make it.
